April 2010 Update
"The new primary school seems to amaze us each time we check on its progress. We are attacking on five fronts and all are moving steadily ahead:
the first phase of the school building itself
- the dining facility: for the feeding program for what eventually will be 600 children! (right)
- the wall around the compound (below)
- the well
- the pit latrine (with twelve stalls)
The engineer has assured us that phase one of the school will be finished by the time school begins in September. We need to have it ready as we plan to add fifth grade (i.e. the fourth graders will move up) and move grades two through four to the new site. At the old site, we plan to add two classes of Nursery School Lifesong Indiathis year, so eventually we will have two classrooms of each grade. We originally were going to build the school half the size with one classroom for each grade, but the mayor of Ziway and Secretary of Education in the area asked that it be twice the size because the need is so great!
We have hired the new director for all three of our campuses: the current site, the new site, and the Adami Tulu school about five miles (eight kilometers ) south of Ziway. He appears to be a solid Christian with a lot of school administration experience. We pray that he is the man God has selected for the position.

We also look forward to having one or more young American lady educators with us for the next school year. We think that they, working along with the Ethiopian director, will really improve the quality of the school. Knowing what we have planned, many parents are jockeying for their kids to be enrolled in our school for the next school year."
We are praying for needed funds to finish this project!
