June 2010 Update
The work in Ethiopia continues to progress.
The biggest project is the construction of the elementary school, which will eventually serve grades 1 through 8, in the town of Ziway.
In the picture, the building on the right is the dining facility where students will receive breakfast and lunch every school day. In the background is phase one of the actual school building. This fall it will house 2nd through 5th grade, offices and a "teacher's lounge."
Currently there is a problem with the
availability of cement in the entire country
of Ethiopia, so construction has temporarily stopped. Other challenges include funds for
school equipment, such as desks, blackboards, playground equipment, and supply cabinets
to name a few.
At our Adami Tulu Nursery School we are currently addressing some needed repairs. Lifesong is planning on repairing a leaky roof and dividing the one classroom into two separate rooms during summer vacation. This will enable the school to additionally offer Kindergarten in the fall. Their playground equipment also needs some repairs.
We appreciate your continued prayers as we serve children in Ethiopia.
